Our 2016 trip was so Great we went back 2017 ! and it was even better ... the BEST... don't bother to look at other places this is the GREATEST Nothing more you could want. Mark and Kristina, and their crew cover ALL your needs and the fishing is abundant. We will return again and again THANK YOU J & L FOWLER This place is so wonderful!!! We limited on salmon almost every day!! Highly recomend it!! If you want to have an amazing time catching fish and taking in incredible views, come to Doc Warner's. Doc is extremely knowledgeable about the fishing, he knows everything you could know about salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska. The staff they have put together was so friendly and accommodating. Absolutely loved my time there. But you HAVE to hike up to the rope swing. Ask the dock staff and they'll help you find it Good fishing, we kept limiting out on halibut in under 3 hours. Amazing vistas. Friendly staff. Sleep in a comfortable bed, take a hot shower, eat a hot breakfast, dress in warm dry waterproofs, and spend a day fishing. Come back, and the dock staff fillets and freezes your catch, while you have a hot dinner, and return to the comfortable bed. We were there end of August 2015 - Review of Doc Warner’s Good – Food, friendly young staff, Doc, salmon expert, whales and scenery. Salmon expert who tied stout leader and gave good information 2nd and 3rd day into the trip saved our trip. Fairly calm water but you will get soaked even on a calm day from swells. Bad – Self-Guided and not enough information on how to go about catching salmon or halibut for newbies. Towards end of trip you will have a better idea how to catch fish and where. Leader sold was breaking on all the guests. Boats are not enclosed, no two way communication, 75horse motors, 19-20ft but they are stout. Ugly - Equipment – Poles and reels are well used. Some poles with broken guides and hand grips are lose which is especially difficult to fish with. Reels might not have good drags so that will cause line to come loose from down riggers or free wind mechanism did not work. Pole/reel exchange not any better. Very Ugly Props – number of guest (all guests at our table) had failed props, blades breaking off, 25 plus miles from lodge. This was a known by the lodge but rather than replace the whole lot of props you are given a boat that might fail. If Halibut fishing and failed prop you have lost an entire day of fishing. Not two way radios in boat and cell phone said no service but txt barely went through the 3rd try. Extra costs – tackle will cost another $300 and rain gear another $25 which similar lodges will include with package.
